2011 Hangang Yeouido Spring Flower Festival

The 7th Hangang Yeouido Spring Flower Festival ended yesterday, April 19th. We were there last Saturday along with hundreds of thousand others who wanted to see the cherry blossoms along the Han River.
My son and I arrived at the National Assembly station on line number 9 at around 4 PM. It took us 20 minutes before we could get out of the station. Here’s the scene last Saturday:

We had some snacks while walking to the National Assembly. Trash bins are usually hard to find in most commercial places in Seoul. I know this since I’ve always had a difficult time finding one whenever I’m in Jongro or Myeongdong. That’s why my purse usually has garbage in it. Here’s how the trash bin looked like near the PedXing…

There were lots of visitors at the National Assembly last Saturday. We didn’t bring a mat so we just sat on the grass like most people did. We visited the National Assembly Visitor Center last year so we didn’t go there anymore.

We met my husband before 6 o’clock that afternoon. That was also the time when the NA compound closes. We immediately went to the eastern side where the cherry blossoms are. Several stages were set up along the National Assembly road, as it was closed to traffic for the duration of the festival. I truly enjoyed this dance interpretation (one of my childhood dreams was to be a dancer)…

Here are some pictures of the cherry blossoms and the crowd that day…

We were at Hangang until almost nine o’clock that night. We for almost two kilometers to Dangsan station. We also watched the “Marine Concert” at the newly opened “Seoul Marina and Yacht Club.”
The cherry blossoms are beautiful during the day. At night, LED lights make them glow in different colors. Too bad I couldn’t take better pictures…

To whoever planted this tree... Thank you!

This tree already has green leaves...

Looks like cotton candy to me ;p

The moon, the flowers and the lovers... of spring!

The cherry blossoms bloom only once a year. Winter may be my least favorite season because of the cold temperature but it makes waiting for the spring flowers to bloom so exciting ;p
