Charice Pempengco may have been featured on Korean TV a few times (twice on SBS and once on KBS). Francine Prieto also made news here a few years ago and she was also interviewed on Arirang TV (right?). However, there is one Filipina who’s regularly seen on Korean TV. Her name is Jas and she could speak Korean like a native (my husband said and she’s obviously a good friend). Last year, she bested four other contestans and won two million won in a language contest on KBS “Uri Mal Hanaro”. She treated us to coffee and donuts a couple of weeks later.
Jaz has been in Korea for more than a decade and aside from “Love in Asia”, where she appears in a segment, she also translates television programs. The last one she made, AFAIK, is the KBS-NBN series on the Philippines, which includes the special on Filipino singers.
Jaz has been gaining popularity, IMO, among ajummas (married women). One time we went to a noraebang and the owner recognized here. Same thing happened the last time we ate at a buffet restaurant. I guess she’s more popular in the province as she’s been asked to sign autographs for some fans π Kidding aside, the Misuda girls might be more popular than her but when it comes to wit and knowledge of Korean, she definitely has the upperhand. Read her blog and find more about my good friend who shares the same birthdate as Sharon Cuneta, the Philippine Megastar.

It sounds like you are close friends with her! That is awesome. I think it is a nice experience being a friend of a celebrity, because not only do you get the perks of a regular friend, but other people treat you nicer too!
Congrats Jaz! Pinoys are proud of you.

I’m extending my congratulations to Jasmine. I’m based here in saudi arabia for the past 29 years and about a year ago, we found this kbs ‘love in asia’ program from our satellite, from then on, we never miss watching this program. I’ve seen your story in the program where your husband die and you always go to that boat or yacht. Whatever country is featured in the program, we never miss to watch it. More power.
