Three months and counting

It’s been three months since I announced that I would finally open a store for Korean products such as cosmetics, magazines, CDs and DVDs, and clothes. Since I’ve been working full-time since July, I really couldn’t find the time to do everything that is necessary for the store to run smoothly.
Opening a retail business in Korea is quite easy. It took me less than 30 minutes to have it registered with the tax office. I only needed to show our property document and an ID. I went back to the tax office after a week to pick-up the business certificate. That is so different from all the bureaucracy that one has to go through when starting a business back home πŸ˜‰
A store would require a POS system. It is more commonly known as the “checkout” transactions are handled. The retail industry is a major user of this system, but the hospitality industry also benefits from this. The POS Geeks are experts in this area and I know they make the life of business owners easier.
Aside from the business certificate, opening an online store here also needs another form of registration and a 100,000 won one-time fee. And then there’s the issue of security and so on and so forth.
Anyway, I’m still doing the business but it isn’t moving as fast as I’d like to. I’ve been conducting sales on a regular basis. I’d be putting up the price list FINALLY this weekend. Hopefully, I’d be able to finish the site.

  1. I totally agree! We’re planning to officially register our business here in Manila but even the government agencies are not helping us T_T

  2. I’ll be waiting for the pricelist te.XD I hope kasama na yung kpop products..
Amazed naman ako kasi kelangan pang iregister ang online shops dyan sa korea. Dito kasi wala pa pong batas na ganyan. Kaya nga online na lang yung ibang shops para walang fees kung saan saan: space rental, taxes, etc. I hope hindi magkaron, ever.XD

  3. Interesting!!!
I would like to know if you’re going to use paypal system because shop in korea from other countries is difficult in terms of language, security, etc.

  5. hi Ms. Betchay.
I’m planning to open my Skinfood Spree on March 1 – 31. I want to order from you. If I’ll place my orders on April 1 and pay you in full via E-On, when will I receive the items? I prefer via balikbayan box by the way. Thanks.
By the way, when will be the best time for me to e-mail and get contact with you? Thanks..appreciate your reply.

    1. hi jm! i know you… anyway, it really depends on the balikbayan carrier… from what i know, it takes about 3 weeks for the box to arrive at its destination… but the bb box that i use sends a container twice a month – middle of the month and end of the month… so if you place your orders by april 1st and hopefully i could get them in two days and i ship by the middle of the month then you’ll get the box by the first or second week of May

    1. hey thanks! i’ve been spending a lot of time on this that i haven’t been able to catch up on my emails… πŸ™
