Friday last week, my son asked me how high is 3 meters. I said that would be a little less than two of me in height. He then told me about the news that day, two people got off the bus and fell into a sinkhole that was 3 meters deep. Here is the video of the news report by YTN:
The incident happened on February 20th, the last day of the lunar new year holiday at 1:55 pm. The video was taken by the CCTV of the bus. The couple seem to be talking to each other when they fell. 119 was immediately called and they were brought to the hospital for treatment.
The bus stop (where bus 400 and 5012 stops) is located in front of the Yongsan Prugio Summit Apartment – two 39 floor buildings – that is being constructed by Daewoo E&C. According to preliminary investigations, groundwater that has been leaking at the site from a month ago caused the collapse of the sidewalk. However, the company has failed to provide adequate safety measures around the area.

This is not the first time that an incident related to construction happened for Daewoo E&C. In June of 2014, cracks were found on the wall of buildings near Hapjeong station in Mapo-gu near the area where Daewoon is building the Mapo Hangang Prugio.
