Indonesian ISIS sympathizer in Korea, arrested

It was all over the news last night ~ an Indonesian suspected to be an ISIS sympathizer was arrested by the police at his home in Chungcheongnam-do (a province south of Seoul). The Indonesian is 32 years old and came to Korea in 2007 illegally. He was arrested on charges of illegal immigration.

Found at the man’s home are books on religious fundamentalism, a mock M16 rifle and a knife. He visited Gyeongbokgung Palace wearing a hat with the symbol for “al Nusra” (the Al Qaeda group in Syria). He wore the same hat in photos of him in Bukhansan and Seoraksan. He was also seen in a video in Bukhansan waving the flag of the same group.
Here’s a video from MBN about the arrest~

Of course, the Indonesian community is not happy about this incident. The few Indonesian friends I have who are living in Korea has been talking about this illegal immigrant on Facebook ~ calling the man names.
