Descendants of the Sun is this year’s most popular Korean drama by far. Starring Song Hye Gyo and Song Joong Gi, it has been seen by millions of people all over Asia. I haven’t seen the entire drama ~ don’t have the time yet but I intend to finish it as soon as I can.
Last month, I posted about the Song standee in front of a restaurant near where I live. That has since been removed but people still flock to the restaurant.
Long before Descendants of the Sun was shown on TV, “Seorae Maeul” already has quite a following. It has been in Hoegi-dong eversince we moved to the neighborhood ~ that was in 2011. It was renovated last year. Scenes in the drama taken at the restaurant were filmed on December 9, 2015. How did I know? From a message I sent to friends through Kakaotalk ~
I was on my way to Korean class that time and I remember sending that message while I was on the escalator of Hoegi station, line 1. I didn’t have an idea that time that they were filming the drama that would make Song Joong Gi really famous! If I had known…
Seorae Maeul: filming location
This is the restaurant ~ Seorae Maeul serves delicious Korean barbecue. I haven’t been to the restaurant! Every time we attempt to go there for dinner, there is always a line.
And here’s an ad of the restaurant showing the scenes from Descendants of the Sun ~
The best time to visit Seorae Maeul is in the afternoon. I often see lines from 6pm onwards. It is easy to find, just take line 1 to Hoegi station. It is just a short walk from exit 1 ~ right beside Paris Baguette.
I hope to try the restaurant someday ~
Hello! Would you know the operating hours of the restaurant? Plan ko po sana pumunta ng lunch time, para hindi masyadong mahaba ang pila. 🙂
They’re open at around 11 o’clock for lunch ~
Thank you!
