Destination: Thailand

[singlepic=891,250,250,left]We’re going to have to celebrate the lunar New Year or what we call “seol-nal” (read: seol-lal) soon from January 25-27. Lots of families are preparing to go back to their hometowns. Others will be traveling abroad to escape the freezing winter weather we have now.
It was really cold today at -9/-4 (low/high) degrees Celsius and if you ask me, I’d rather be in a tropical paradise like Thailand. I’ve never been to Thailand and I’d like to visit the place someday.
I’ve always been fascinated by Thailand and in fact, my husband and I planned to get married there almost six years ago. An inquiry to the Korean Embassy made us changed our plans. 🙁
If I were to plan a Thailand travel, I’d prefer a backpacking tour. I’d like to visit the tribes in northern Thailand that I saw on Discovery Channel. I’d also like to tour all the intricately designed palaces in Bangkok and watch traditional Thai performances.
What is a visit to Thailand without exploring its beaches? What is that island in Leonardo Di Caprio’s movie “The Beach” called? The movie might have been disastrous but the setting was exhilarating.
Being a foodie, a trip to Thailand wouldn’t be complete without a sampling of authentic Thai cuisine: Tom yum goong and Pad Thai are my favorites. I sometimes prepare Pad Thai at home but I know it’s nothing compared to what I could have in Thailand.
We’re really planning on going to Southeast Asia next month, hopefully my husband could get a week’s vacation so my Thailand travel adventure would not just be a plan!
