I don’t need to watch TV shows from the Philippines, but I do. I don’t need to pay for them online as there are many sites showing them for free, but I don’t want the risk of getting my PC infected with a malware. For years, I’ve been a subscriber of TFC Now. The site was okay except for the fact that I have to use Windows Media Player to watch their shows. My “viewing pleasure” was limited to my desktop. That’s why I was excited when they announced the switch to TFC TV.
Unlike TFC Now, TFC TV uses Flash to broadcast their shows. I can watch TFC shows through my tablet and hook it to my TV; I could even watch on my phone while in the subway since we have free WiFi ;p
While many TFC TV subscribers have been complaining about buffering, that has not been my case. Korea has very fast internet services. I also don’t mind that some of the videos suffer from pixelation. The technical problems of the site have improved since it was first launched.
My frustration with TFC TV has something to do with payment. With TFC Now, I paid for my subscriptions with Paypal and it was a breeze. With TFC TV, they have allowed payments by Paypal, but they don’t accept transactions in Korean Won. And there is no way I could change the currency to US dollars or Philippine peso. Even editing my profile to Philippines or the US as my country is not effective. I even spent half an hour chatting with a customer service representative and I felt sorry for the poor guy because he couldn’t do anything.
I tried calling Worldcom Korea as they are the only distributor here but I’ve dialled their number several times to no avail. Their phone just kept on ringing and no one is answering. Their website is also not working properly. How frustrating!
