South Korea is less than 4 hours from the Philippines. It has a population of about 54,000 Filipino legal immigrants. In my almost 13 years living here, we don’t often get visited by popular entertainers from the Philippines. So whenever I hear that Kapamilya stars go abroad for shows, I wonder when are they coming to perform in Korea.
One Kapamilya Go Concert
The Filipino Channel or TFC has only officially started operating in Korea last fall, October 2015. Finally, the Filipinos in Korea are now a part of the TFC Global Kapamilya Network. We could expect more events and entertainment tailored for us. Just last Sunday, the first “One Kapamilya Go Korea” was held at the Tong Seong Auditorium in Hyewa.
Our kababayan in Korea bought VIP tickets weeks in advance for the chance to see up close Kapamilya stars headed by Maja Salvador, Rayver Cruz, KZ Tandingan and DJ Chacha. Thousands lined up outside the auditorium early Sunday afternoon. The show promptly started at 2:30 pm. The event was hosted by Roy Perez and the lovely Grazee Asis. Local Filipino talents were able to showcase their talents before the main stars came on stage. I had seen videos posted by friends on their wall of how long the queue. I wanted to see the concert but I couldn’t. So I’m glad that friends took videos of the concert 😉 Thanks to Jocelyn for sharing!
Maja Salvador proves that she is the current “Dancing Queen” of Philippine show business. She and Rayver sizzled on the stage ~ as hot as the summer is back home.
She also sang songs from her album ~ like “Dahan Dahan”.
And sang and danced to Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” in a sexy glittery catsuit.
Rayver Cruz made girls swoon when he performed. There are good-looking guys in Korea, Filipino and Koreans alike, but he still made the girls “kilig”. He is tall, has nice skin and pretty talented.
I missed KZ Tandingan’s performance. She was my bet when she joined “The X-Factor” and she won deservedly. The “One Kapamilya Go” concert is not the first time that she was in Korea. It was her second as her first trip was last fall.
Here’s a video posted by the official photographer/videographer of the event ~ Pinoy Clickers in South Korea:
After the concert, lucky fans had the chance to meet and greet the Kapamilya stars backstage. Even Ambasaddor Raul Hernandez and other members of the Philippine Embassy in Seoul met and had their photos taken.
I felt lucky that I was invited by Mr. James Chua of TFC Korea at a mini presscon after the concert. Along with DJ Gennie Kim of Multicultural Family Broadcast, fellow blogger Shirgie of Saranghae Korea, Mr. Jason Seril of SULYAPINOY, and Dawn, we talked to the guests from the Philippines.
Shirgie has posted the conversation we had with the stars. I don’t recall asking anything. I was mesmerized by Maya’s pretty face and her seemingly genuine personality. The first time I saw her on TV was on “The Buzz” when she was looking for her father. She mentioned about that and fondly recall how Ms. Charo Santos Concio called for her and asked if she wanted to be a talent and then paired her with John Pratts. That’s history already but it reminds us that even beautiful people had to start somewhere. Maja and John are both in the teleserye “Ang Probinsiyano”. I would be honest to say that I’ve followed Maja’s career. I was impressed by her performance in the movie “Thelma” ~ it didn’t do well in the box office but Maja could always be proud of herself and that film.

TFC.TV in Korea
We hope that with the success of the first “One Kapamilya Go in Korea”, we could look forward to a second, a third and even a fourth one this year. In the meantime, those of us in Korea could always follow shows on TFC.TV. I have been a subscriber of this service for years and although I had to pay, I’m quite satisfied with the service. I know that there are free streamers online but I don’t want to risk getting infected with all the spyware and malware that they carry.
Interested in TFC.TV? You could try the service for free for 7-days. Watch all their current teleserye, movie archive (old and new ones), sports, current affairs, specials and even live broadcast of TV Patrol.
