More than 100 Foreign Workers tested positive for COVID19 in Namyangju

According to the news, 115 people were infected in a plastic manufacturing plant in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do. The plant is located at an industrial complex with dozens of factories. More than 1,200 employees working at the complex have been tested.

The industrial complex in Namyangju has more than 1,200 employees working in it.

The plastic factory is located in Jingun-eup in Namyangju. Because of the infection, the factory was closed for disinfection and a temporary screening clinic was set up next to it.

On February 13th, a Cambodian working in the factory first tested positive. He went to Yongsan in Seoul to visit family and felt some symptoms. He got tested at the Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Seoul. Quarantine authorities tested 177 factory employees. More than 110 people tested positive at once. Most of them are foreign workers. According to the Namyangju mayor, 9 Koreans and 105 foreigners were confirmed by noon on February 17th.

Most of the workers live in the dormitory on the 3rd floor of the factory. There are single, double and 5-bed rooms. The restaurant and bathrooms are shared facilities.

The industrial complex has more than 1,200 employees working in 59 companies. If the infection has spread to other factories, the whole industrial complex may be on lockdown.
